Description
Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Image Analysis
Nuffield Department of Medicine, Big Data Institute, Li KaShing Centre for Health Information & Discovery, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LF Grade 7: £33,309 – £40,927 with a discretionary range to £44,706 per annum
The quantitative analysis of histology image data will play an increasingly important role in clinical research and diagnostic. This position is ideally suited for a postdoctoral researcher who has a strong background in biomedical image analysis, machine learning and computational biology.
You will be developing algorithms that make use of latest machine learning and computer vision techniques to analyse the cell and tissue morphology at different scales. In certain applications it will be necessary to combine measurements from several histology sections. Ultimately, we would like to develop methods that facilitate the assessment of the local tissue architecture. It will also be necessary to develop the necessary framework for processing entire studies, analyse the data, and interpret these with the help of statisticians.
It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be near completion), together with relevant experience. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes and proven programming experience in Python and/or C/C++. It is important that you have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract until 31 December 2023, and is funded by Novo Nordisk. Only applications received before 12 midday on 8 November 2021 will be considered. Please quote 153901 on all correspondence.
