The Mathematics department at NYU Courant is a highly respected center for research and advanced training in mathematics and computer science. NYU’s world-class interdisciplinary graduate programs are known for their cutting- edge training in analysis and applied mathematics, including partial differential equations, differential geometry, dynamical systems, probability and stochastic processes, scientific computation, mathematical physics, and fluid dynamics.
The interdisciplinary focus is one of the greatest strengths of NYU Courant’s graduate programs. Courses, seminars, and research collaborations go far beyond traditional areas of pure and applied mathematics, covering diverse areas such as visual neural science, materials science, atmosphere/ocean science, cardiac fluid dynamics, plasma physics, mathematical genomics, and mathematical finance. Analysis plays a central role that provides a natural bridge between these subjects.
NYU Courant is in the very heart of the world’s leading artistic and financial center in downtown Manhattan.
