Title Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate Position Number PS02171 Job Summary

This is a temporary position for 12 Months only. The Postdoctoral Fellow will assist PI to design, organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures; summarize findings and publish results in the peer reviewed journals; assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory; provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians and students.

Essential Duties

Conduct experiments under the supervision of PI;

Perform standard and complex laboratory/animal procedures;

Conduct experiments under the supervision of PI;

Prepare comprehensive written reports including manuscripts summarizing data collection; establish and maintain files.

Perform Tissue Culture, Western Blot, immunostaining and quantitative real time RT-PCR analysis.

Maintain inventory of lab supplies and equipment.

Document and maintain mouse colonies.

Supervise other personnel in the laboratory to coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency; participate in training of students and volunteer workers as needed.

Assist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and with general maintenance of laboratory.

Required Qualifications

2-3 years of experience in cell and molecular biology, animal handling.

Experience with aerosol nicotine delivery to free moving animals using ENDS system required

Experience with blood pressure measurement on conscious rodents using BP 2000 system required.

Strong background in biochemistry and/or molecular biology.

Must have publications proving the skills listed above.

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in a basic or health science.

1 – 2 years of relevant experience in a research environment.
