瑞典哥德堡大学博士后职位—B细胞生物学
Researcher
Göteborg University
Description
This project aims to understand aspects of human B-cell biology, including signals and mechanisms involved in B-cell development in the bone marrow and differentiation in peripheral lymphoid organs, to better understand the clinical consequences of defects in these processes resulting in, e.g., immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, cancer.
In practice this entails isolating cells from bone marrow and other lymphoid organs, e.g., peripheral blood, tonsils. Set up various panels to stain the cells for different markers followed by flow cytometry, image stream, confocal mikroskopy, cell sorting etc. Moreover, primary cell populations are isolated for culturing in vitro to be followed by analyses to study e.g., proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, gene and protein expression. Other parts of the project use cell lines cultured in vitro and treated with different agents, the effects of which are analysed as above.
Qualifications
This position requires a PhD exam in a relevant subject, and a postdoctoral period is advantageous. It is a requirement that the applicant is fluent in English, oral and written. Some knowledge of Swedish is helpful work wise but not a requirement.
Moreover, extended theoretical knowledge of immunology and B-cell biology is a requirement, as is a long-standing background in flow cytometry (analyses and cell sorting), being the basis for most of our studies. Practical skills in the following is also a requirement; confocal microscopy, cell culture (cell lines, primary cells), down-stream assays e.g., proliferation, differentiation, protein- and gene expression, bioinformatic analyses. It is advantageous to have teaching experience and supervision of students.
As a person, you need to be accurate, structured, flexible, independent and be good at collaborating with other people.
The applicant’s personal suitability is highly important.
