PostDoc (f/m/d) dynamics and transport of laser-plasma accelerated
electrons
As member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, the HZDR employs about 1,400 people. The Center’s focus is on interdisciplinary research in the areas energy, health and matter.
The Institute of Radiation Physics conducts research for states of matter under extreme conditions and in very small dimensions.
As part of the Institute, the Department of Laser Particle Acceleration invites applications as
PostDoc (f/m/d) dynamics and transport of laser-plasma accelerated electrons.
The position will be available from 1 November 2021. The employment contract is limited to one year.
Tasks:
In close collaboration with a large international consortium, you will bring forward laser-plasma electron accelerators to its key applications:
Participate in the installation and commissioning of an electron beamline uniquely designed to capture, transport and manipulate laser-plasma accelerated electrons
Establish beam control to meet the requirements in selected application areas
Analyze experimental data and communicate the results in work in progress reports, international conferences and publications in refereed journals
Requirements:
Holding an excellent PhD degree in the field of accelerator physics, preferably with experimental experience on laser-plasma accelerators proven by a strong publication list
Expertise in electron beam dynamics and transport, phase-space manipulation and synchrotron radiation including diagnostics
Experience with mechanical design, particle-optics, insertion devices and experimental realization
Good working knowledge with high power lasers, laser-optics and ultrahigh vacuum
Ability to work closely within a team; engineers, students, postdocs and scientists, and capability of multitasking
