Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 1, UCD School of Medicine, 2 year post
Applications are invited for a 2 year post of a Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 , within UCD School of Medicine.
The aim of this project is to develop new molecular treatments for breast cancer, in particular to test new compounds that target mutant p53, myc or related cancer-causing genes. These new drugs will be tested on a panel of breast cancer cell lines for their ability to inhibit cell proliferation and induce cell death. In addition, studies will be carried out to determine how these drugs act at a molecular level. The ultimate aim is to identify new drugs that will be evaluated in clinical trials.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
• Present regular updates on progress of research,
• supervise undergraduate projects/summer research projects,
• present research findings at local/national and international conferences,
• publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals,
• any other appropriate duty assigned to him/her by the PI
Salary: €38,631 – €41,025 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
