Job Description
The Single-Molecule Biophotonics lab at New York University School of Medicine (http://www.rothenberglab.com/), headed by Prof. Eli Rothenberg, is a unique interdisciplinary research hub with world-leading expertise in developing transformative single-molecule optical techniques, innovative assays and specialized data analyses tools, and their applications in ground-breaking biomedical research.
Our laboratory is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral or visiting scholar scientists with interests in DNA Replication and Repair and the utilization of cutting-edge fluorescence microscopy techniques for studying relevant mechanisms and therapeutic response in cancer.
Ongoing research projects in our laboratory focuses on application of new single-molecule tools for elucidating diverse molecular mechanisms involved in DNA repair and DNA damage response, their dysfunction in human disease and cancer, and their utilization as targets for therapeutic intervention, with an emphasis on cellular stress response and pharmacological mechanisms of action.
Requirements
We seek qualified and self-motivated applicants with solid training and proven experience in diverse scientific backgrounds and experimental techniques including:
-Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (Cell engineering and tissue culture, Genome editing and CRISPR, protein purifications, fluorescent reporters, protein tagging technologies, fluorescence microscopy).
-Physics, Physical Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Photonics (optical instrumentations, machine vision and visualization, micro-fluidics, advanced microscopy techniques, biological materials fabrication) .
Applicant would hold a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Engineering, or related disciplines (Biological Physics, Biophysical Chemistry, Photonics, Biomedical Engineering, etc) and have a peer-reviewed publication record.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment is essential. Excellence in regular, proactive communication and problem solving as part of a team, strong record keeping, a great work ethic, and initiative are also essential.
Candidates with experience in using single-molecule approaches (single-molecule tracking, multi-color super-resolution microscopy and single-molecule FRET), advanced fluorescence microscopies and related approaches, or those with strong background in DNA replication ad repair are encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants should submit a detailed CV, statement of research interests, and have three reference letters sent to:
