We are seeking a post-doctoral or a visiting scholar fellow who will work in the laboratory of  Dr. Babu Padanilam in the Department of Urology, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NY. The research in the laboratory focuses on molecular mechanisms regulating metabolic alterations in acute kidney injury (AKI), neuroregulation of chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression and in developing kidney specific drug targeting.  

The principal duties of the post-doctoral fellow will be to use in vitro and in vivo tools to assess the functional/mechanistic role of molecules involved in these areas of research and to exploit those insights to develop new preventative measures and therapies in AKI and CKD.  

The successful applicant should have relevant scientific education (PhD degree in Cellular/Molecular Biology, and/or Physiology) with scientific background in acute and chronic kidney disease and excellent rodent surgical skills, ability to collect data and perform statistical analysis, present the results at national and international scientific meetings, and write manuscripts for publications. Prior experience in developing animal models acute and chronic kidney diseases will be preferred. 

Applicants with experience in studying renal or prostate cancer research will also be considered for a second post-doctoral position.  Applications will be considered as they arrive.
