Research Associate Position in iCVD Research Department of Chemical Engineering
University of Rochester, Rochester, NY
There is an opening for a postdoctoral or a visiting scholar research position in polymer thin film development at the University of Rochester.
The researcher will work in Professor Wyatt Tenhaeff’s research group with the primary objective of developing novel polymeric materials and thin film structures for optical coating applications using initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD).
iCVD provides exceptional control over polymer film structure and composition, and the associate will design new CVD hardware and processes to enable novel applications. The project is sponsored by a large, well-established company headquartered in “Silicon Valley” and will involve significant industry collaboration.
The preferred start date is Jan. 1, 2021 but is somewhat flexible. The initial appointment is for one year with yearly continuation contingent upon research progress and project funding.
Salary will be commensurate with experience, training and qualifications and will include benefits. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. with expertise in vacuum deposition technologies.
Candidates with significant experience designing and building custom hardware and/or deposition control schemes will be given special consideration.
